PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting abnormality of a seat load meter capable of preventing false decision that the load meter is abnormal caused by some unbalance of a seat position, a sitting position of an occupant, and a way of mounting a seat. SOLUTION: First of all, a step S11 decides whether a seat load is not more than a predetermined value (a minus value). When the seat load is not more than a predetermined minus value (for example -5kgf), a procedure skips to a step S15 and decides as abnormality. When the seat load exceeds the predetermined value in the step S11, the procedure shifts to a step S12, and a value of S=(WFR+WRL)-(WFL+WRR) is calculated. Then, a step S13 calculates whether the value S is within a predetermined range. When S is in the predetermined range, the procedure shifts to a step S14 and decides as normal. When S is not within the predetermined range, the procedure shifts to a step S15 and decides as abnormality.
