PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connecting device and a connecting piece for a picture frame which can contribute to reduce a manufacturing cost. SOLUTION: A plurality of frame members 2 are assembled like a frame to form a picture frame. A connecting device is used to join each frame member 2 at its joint surface 23. The connecting device 10 has an opening on the joint surface 23 where the frame members 2 are joined each other, and is extended to an adjacent surface 2B located beyond the joint surface 23. The connecting device 10 is equipped with a connecting piece 30, which has a pair of joining grooves 24 extending toward the depth from the opening, and a pair of joining members 31, which are inserted into the pair of joining grooves 24 from the surface 2B of the extended side and extend toward the depth of the joining groove 24 from the joint surface 23. A contact line 32 which makes contact with the inner surface of the joining groove all along from the front end to the area near the base end of an inserting direction at a parallel line with the inserting direction is formed on a surface along the direction of inserting each joining member 31. A contact surface which makes contact with the inner surface of the joining groove in a surface is formed at the base end in the inserting direction.
