PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new catalyst formed by extrusion which is utilized suitably for a synthesis by gaseous phase catalytic oxidation of unsaturated aldehyde and unsaturated carboxylic acid, is prepared by extrusion molding of catalyst particles (powder) containing at least molybdenum, bismuth and iron as metallic elements related to the catalytic action with respect to the reaction and is excellent in the activity of catalyst and in the selectivity of the unsaturated aldehyde and the unsaturated carboxylic acid which are the products to be aimed. SOLUTION: When the catalytic particles including at least molybdenum, bismuth and iron which are manufactured beforehand are formed by extrusion, ceramic is used for at least one part of catalyst flow passage in the extrusion molding step, thereafter, the treatment such as drying and calcination is applied to the articles formed by extrusion and the final catalyst formed by extrusion thus can be obtained. |
