PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simultaneously form a plurality of scan faces with a simple structure in an ultrasonic probe. SOLUTION: In this probe, a vibration element array 10 comprises vibration element groups 12, 14. The respective groups 12, 14 are formed in a staggered state in an elevation direction. When making the respective groups 12, 14 independently execute reception operation, two receptions per transmission can be realized to simultaneously form the two scan faces.
