PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a lid lock of a washing machine that is simple in structure, can reliably lock the right and left sides of a lid and helps improve the safeness. SOLUTION: In a washing machine in which a tub is swingably suspended in an outer casing, a washing and dehydration tub provided with a pulsator at the bottom is rotatably arranged in the tub, the upper portion of the outer casing is covered by a top cover 4 having a clothing inlet 8 to the washing and dehydration tub, a lid 5 opening and closing the clothing inlet 8 is disposed and the lid 5 is locked during dehydration, a lid locking mechanism 11 locking the lid 5 during dehydration is provided in one lid side of the top cover 4, a shaft 14 communicating with the opposite top cover 4 from the side in which the lid locking mechanism 11 is slidably provided in the lid 5, the shaft 14 is urged toward the lid locking mechanism 11 side by a spring 18 and slides, interlocking with the advance and withdrawal of the lid locking mechanism 11, fits into an engagement hole formed in the top cover 4 in the side opposite the side in which the lid locking mechanism 11 is provided, and locks the opposite side of the lid 5.
