<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wet oxidation method of wastewater containing organic compound containing or not containing nitrogen atoms, or polluted with components containing sulfur or phosphorus. SOLUTION: In this wet oxidation treatment method, the wastewater which contains organic compound specifies containing or not containing nitrogen atoms, and anions of strong acids, for example, a sulfate or phosphate ion, or cations of strong bases, for example, a potassium or calcium ion, and which may contain an ammonium ion and/or a nitrate ion in addition to an added ammonium ion and/or nitrate ion is heat-treated near the critical temperature of water, thereby substantially all of COD and nitrogen are converted into water, carbon dioxide or carbonates, a nitrogen gas, and a small amount of nitrous oxide to be removed. In order to obtain excellent results by this treatment method, all reducing compound species are balanced with equivalent oxidizing compound species, all anions of strong acids are balanced with the cations of strong bases, and, in a wet oxidation process, 0.06 mol acetate ion is added with respect to 1 mol nitrate.</p> |
