Binder consists of a) sodium silicate, b) sodium oxide, c) silica and d) ammonium pentaborate, the ratio a : d being 0.2 - 5.0 and pref. the ratio a+b : c is 1 : 0.5 - 1:4. Refractory compositions contain 2 - 15% wt. of the binder.
