PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chucking device driven by an electric motor with compact size and simple structure. SOLUTION: Finger elements 30 holding a work piece W are opened or closed by the positive or reverse rotation of output axis 7 of a motor M. The electric motor chucking device is equipped with a first conversion mechanism that makes a first linear motion part 1 move straight with the rotation force of the output axis 7, a second linear motion part 2 that makes the finger elements 30 open or close through a second conversion mechanism by moving straight, a compression coil spring 5 that is installed under compressed condition to transfer the linear motion force with the first direction X1 of the first linear motion part 1 to the second linear motion part 2, and coupling parts 12, 22 that connect two linear motion parts 1, 2 and that allow the linear motion to the first direction X1 of the first linear motion part 1 under the condition that the second linear motion part is stopped.
