RETROTRANSPOSON, DNA FRAGMENT HAVING PROMOTER ACTIVITY, AND ITS USE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an expression system-constructing material which can relatively safely and easily express a foreign gene in a plant (host) and can further artificially control the expression. SOLUTION: This DNA fragment contains a specific base sequence originated from Avena sativa L. or its homologous sequence. This retrotransposon contains two unidirectional repetitive sequences containing the base sequence or its homologous sequence and a transfer gene nipped between the two unidirectional repetitive sequences. The DNA fragment and the retrotransposon are used to express the foreign gene (an arbitrary gene fragment) in a host.
