PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dressing method by which flatness of a circumferential face after a CBN grindstone is dressed can be securely maintained. SOLUTION: When the circumferential face of the grindstone 13 is dressed, a surface of the grindstone 13 is roughly dressed by providing an intermittent feed operation to the grindstone 13 at a predetermined feed pitch while traversing a dresser 22. A traverse speed of dresser 22 during rough dressing is set to be low (200 m/min), and the flatness of the grindstone 13 is detected by an AE sensor 25, then the rough dressing is continued for a predetermined time while traversing at a low speed. Then, the dresser 22 is traversed at a high speed (1600 m/min) to finish dressing of the circumferential face of the grindstone 13. Thereby, remaining of a stepped portion 13c on a dressed face of the grindstone 13 can be eliminated and the flatness can be secured.
