PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an instrument for grinding an electrode capable of smoothly discharging cutting wastes. SOLUTION: In the instrument for grinding the electrode to cut the tip end section of the electrode W by rotating a cutter holder 11 provided with a cutter 16 in the concave surface section 14 engageable with the tip end section of the electrode W, a notch groove 15 which discharges cutting wastes outwardly in the radium direction with centrifugal force by adjoining to the forward side in the rotational direction of the cutter 16 is formed in the cutter holder 11.
