Fuel charging of nuclear reactors

The device for feeding fuel elements into the fuel channels of a reactor has a tripping mechanism for attachment to an element in the channel which has a number of latches with sections to grip the fuel element and a supporting mechanism which holds the latches during onward movement to the axis of the channel, to move the parts of the latch into a supporting position for the element and to rock this away from the axis of the channel. The tripping mechanism has a locking device to retain the latches in one of the two possible positions.
