<p>Paper is heated until the fibres are carbonised, without altering the external appearance of the sample. The heat supply is via a solid heating body directly contacting the paper surface. Pref., heat is supplied by a liquid in which the paper is immersed, or by a small surface over which the paper moves, e.g., a cylinder. A molten salt or metal bath can also be used.</p> |
