PURPOSE: A method for controlling optimum recording power with respect to an optical recording medium and a device thereof are provided to control the strength of recording light by a compensation value preset per section of an optical recording medium for compensating the difference of recording film thickness of the recording medium, thereby carrying out the data recording regardless of the thickness difference. CONSTITUTION: A method for controlling optimum recording power with respect to an optical recording medium includes the steps of detecting a signal corresponding to a deviation of recording film thickness in the radial direction of the recording disc and a current recording position(S211), determining gain control values corresponding to the detected signal and the current recording position(S212), and controlling the power of recording pulse for compensating the characteristics change according to the deviation of the recording film thickness on the basis of the determined value. |
