PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of providing an optimum image to a high-resolution engine. SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus for outputting low-resolution multi- valued image data with high-resolution binary image data comprises error calculating means (an output calculating unit 103 and an error buffer 104) for performing error diffusion processing with a low-resolution pixel unit, pixel data producing means (multi-valued data generating means 101 and binarization means 102) for creating high-resolution binarized pixel data based on the error calculation means, dot disposing means (binary data buffer 105, a counter unit 106, and an area 107) for acquiring information of binarized pixels within a predetermined high-resolution area to dispose dots within a predetermined area following the information.
