PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge tube which can acquire high welding strength by establishing flat surface at a part of a metal sealed in a glass bulb and by welding power supply connection wire to this flat surface. SOLUTION: The invention is the discharge tube in which metals are sealed at both ends of the glass bulb filled with noble gas inside at predetermined pressure, and comprises that the metals are composed by joining a first metal 9 welded to a power supply connection wire 11 outside the glass bulb and a second metal connecting an electrode at the end inside the glass bulb together and that at least a part of the first metal includes the flat surface.
