PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of the presence of a vehicle being unable to be detected surely, since brightness in a monitoring region largely changes due to the difference in brightness between day and night, dusk, color of the vehicle, road surface state, weather, etc., under natural environment, even though a proposal for detecting the vehicle from brightness dispersion of the photographed image as a method for detecting the vehicle, by using image processing conventionally is made. SOLUTION: This vehicle detection method for detecting the vehicle by using the image processing constitutes its characteristics feature of providing the monitoring region to monitor the vehicle in the photographed image, converting a brightness signal in the monitoring region to entropy and detecting the presence of the vehicle in the region according to the value of the entropy. |
