PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for producing current dependent on the position of the accelerator pedal for the purpose of controlling the power of one or more drives for moving a mobile device that is energized by a fuel cell. SOLUTION: The time required by the drive to respond to the change to the desired current produced as a function of the position of the accelerator pedal is kept as small as possible by producing a current convertible into a desired torque which is held continuously at a value sufficient to ensure that the output voltage of the fuel cell is not lower than the critical value.
