PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk drive apparatus which can prevent such a problem that a reproduction error occurs or an optical disk cannot be recognized by a drive apparatus used for the reproduction. SOLUTION: In the optical disk drive apparatus, in which the optimum write strategy is stored in an EEPROM(electrically erasable and programmable ROM) 111 for each disk vendor, which discriminates the kind of the inserted optical disk 101, which reads out the write strategy suitable for the optical disk 111 from the EEPROM 111, and which is equipped with a function so as to perform writing according to the write strategy, it is constituted so that a plurality of write strategies for one disk vendor are stored in the EEPROM 111, and that one write strategy suitable for the purpose of use of the optical disk 111 can be selected and set among the plurality of write strategies.
