PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption regarding charge amount amplification. SOLUTION: An image pickup part 11i accumulates information electric charges corresponding to photodetected light in respective photodetecting pixels and transfers the accumulated information electric charges to a storage part 11s at a high speed in response to a frame transfer clockϕf. The storage part 11s transfers the information electric charges transferred from the image pickup part 11i, line by line, to an amplification part 11a in response to a vertical transfer clockϕv. The amplification part 11a while transferring the information electric charges transferred from the storage part 11i to a vertical direction in response to an amplification transfer clockϕa synchronized with the vertical transfer clockϕv, uses an impact ionization phenomenon to amplify the amount of the information electric charges sequentially with a predetermined amplification factor.
