PURPOSE: A flat color cathode ray tube is provided to simplify processes and reduce manufacturing cost by eliminating the process of hardening resin, while improving explosion proof characteristics. CONSTITUTION: A flat color cathode ray tube comprises a panel(2) having an inner surface on which a phosphor screen is formed and flat inner and outer surfaces; a funnel(3) coupled to the inner surface of the panel; and an explosion proof band(102) wrapping an end of the panel. The panel has a protective member(101) attached to the outer surface of the panel, wherein the protective member covers at least one of the longer side and shorter side of the panel. The protective member is made of a polyester layer and an acrylic PSA binder layer.
