DEVICE AND METHOD FOR PREVENTING DISCHARGE OF BATTERY IN STARTING ENGINE AT LOW TEMPERATURE

PURPOSE: A discharge preventive apparatus of a battery in starting an engine at low temperature and a method thereof are provided to restrict driving of a starter by disconnecting an ignition terminal of a key cylinder from the starter in case of estimating discharge of a battery by driving the starter. CONSTITUTION: A discharge preventive device of a battery(1) in starting an engine is composed of a voltage sensor(2) detecting voltage of the battery; a temperature sensor(3) detecting temperature of battery fluid; a relay(5) installed between a starter terminal of a key cylinder(6) and a starting motor(7) to control electric connection and disconnection; and a control unit(4) calculating capacity of the battery according to detected values from the voltage sensor and the temperature sensor. Discharge of the battery is prevented with disconnecting the starter terminal from the starting motor in starting the engine at low temperature.
