PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium suitable for a magnetic recording/reproducing device utilizing a linear recording method and incorporating a magneto resistive reproducing head. SOLUTION: This medium is a magnetic recording medium having a magnetic layer for recording a servo signal, a non-magnetic layer, and a magnetic layer for recording information on a non-magnetic support in this order. The coercive force of the magnetic layer for recording information is 7.96 kA/m (100 Oe) or larger than the coercive force of the magnetic layer for recording the servo signal. Additionally, the interface roughness in the interface of the magnetic layer for recording the servo signal and the non-magnetic layer is in a range of from 7 to 12 nm. |
