PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data processing method by which a blocking artifact caused by data compression can be detected in a simple and efficient way. SOLUTION: The processing method for data contained in a digital input image, is provided with a step GF(gradient filter) for filtering a value Y of pixels through a gradient filter for enabling THR of detecting a natural contour inside the digital input image. Besides, the method is provided with a step BAD for detecting the blocking artifact originating from a block-based coding technique from a step CT for calculating a value showing discontinuity on the basis of the values Y of a present pixel and of a pixel adjacent to the present pixel. Finally, the method is provided with a step LPF(low-pass filter) for filtering the value Y of the pixel from the step BAD for detecting the artifact through a low-pass filter except for pixels included within a natural contour area NC determined by the gradient filter step. |
