PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a floating optical head that improves heat radiation efficiency of the magnetic coil producing the recording/reproducing magnetic field on a magneto-optical recording disk. SOLUTION: The protective film 12 is made thin except a projection 122 at the center of a magnetic coil 13. Accordingly, the copper wire of the magnetic coil 13 is brought closer to the open air resulting in improved heat radiation efficiency. The coil 13 consists of several layers and the layer has the more turns the closer the open air.
