PURPOSE: To provide a surface treated steel sheet for cans used for food cans, beverage cans, or the like, more particularly a tin coated steel sheet having an excellent coating material adhesion property, yellowing resistance and rust resistance. CONSTITUTION: The tin coated steel sheet has a tin plating layer having coverage exceeding 97.0% directly or through an intermediate layer on its surface and has a chemical conversion film containing P and Si on the upper layer of the tin plating layer. The coating weighs of the P and Si in the chemical conversion film are respectively specified to ranges of 0.5 to 100 mg/m¬2 and 0.1 to 250 mg/m¬2. |
