PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display device and a method for fabricating the same are provided to prevent the etching of a first barrier metal layer of thin film transistors by forming source and drain electrodes which includes a main metal layer and a second barrier metal layer on the first barrier metal layer. CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal display device includes data lines supplied with data signals, gate lines supplied with scan signals, pixel electrodes for driving liquid crystal display cells, thin film transistors for transmitting the data signals to the pixel electrodes in response to the scan signals, wherein the thin film transistors have a first barrier metal layer(59a) formed on a semiconductor layer in the same pattern, and the data lines, and source and drain electrodes(35) are formed of a main metal layer and a second barrier metal layer.
