PURPOSE: A water repellent ability testing apparatus is provided to accurately and rapidly test the water repellent ability of a sample and resistance force of liquid in a real time basis. CONSTITUTION: A water repellent ability testing apparatus comprises a liquid discharge unit(12) for discharging a liquid to the surface of a sample; an image pickup unit(18) for picking up images from the liquid discharged at the surface of the sample and which forms a semi-circular shape at the surface of the sample; a computer(11) serving as an analysis unit for receiving images of the liquid picked up by the image pickup unit and calculating a surface tension between the liquid and the surface of the sample from the received images; a light source(17) for radiating light to the liquid such that the image pickup unit accurately picks up images from the liquid.
