PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a file control method, a program for the file control method, a recording medium recording the program for the file control method and a file control device, capable of easily and surely finding out a file of desired contents and the like, for example, by being applied on the on-vehicle equipment reproducing an optical disc produced by a personal computer and the like. SOLUTION: A marking of the file belonging to a predetermined holder and a marking of a file belonging to a sub-holder of the holder are displayed with the form same as that in a case when these files are kept in the same holder.
