Thin layer chromatographic plate for quantitative densitometry. Plate consists of alternate strips of predetermined spectral transparency separated by optically opaque regions defining the edges of the adsorbent agents. Specifically the opaque separator regions may project above one or both surfaces of the translucent strips and be opaque right through the thickness of the plate.
