PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image quality improving device with a small circuit scale at a low cost. SOLUTION: The image quality improving device has a vertical low pass filter 1 extracting the low area component of the vertical direction of an input intensity signal YIN, a horizontal low pass filter 2 extracting the low area component of a horizontal direction from the output signal, a subtractor 4 subtracting the output from an intensity signal delayed and compensated by a delay circuit 3, a gain control circuit 5 regulating the margin of an edge signal obtained by the subtractor 4, and an adder 6 delaying and compensating the edge signal margin-regulated by the gain control circuit 5 to the delayed and compensated intensity signal. The vertical low pass filter 1 and the horizontal low pass filter 2 are constituted by the successive connection or parallel connection of an FIR filter and an IIR filter. |
