PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control valve type lead storage battery of long life. SOLUTION: A positive electrode tab part 5a and a negative electrode tab part 5b, for collecting electricity, are formed on both facing minor sides of a positive electrode plate and negative electrode plate 2, being almost rectangular. The positive electrode plate, the negative electrode plate, and a retainer are laminated and welded for integration, to provide electrode plates. The electrode plates are inserted in a battery case 12, to which a discharge-terminal lid 11a and a charge-terminal lid 11b are welded. The electrode plates are welded to a discharge positive electrode terminal 21b, a charge positive electrode terminal 21a, a charge negative electrode terminal 22b, and a discharge negative electrode terminal 22a, to provide a control valve type lead storage battery.
