PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wireless transmission/reception system that can eliminate the time lag by remote control operations so as to provide excellent user- friendliness. SOLUTION: A user depresses a pause button of a remote controller 5 to transmit a remote control signal to a remote control light receiving section 6. A reception unit 4 decodes a remote control signal as remote control data for a temporary stop instruction, transmits the decoded data to a transmission unit 2 as a wireless radio wave and applies pause control also to an output image/voice processing section. The remote control data received by the transmission unit 2 and denoting a temporary stop instruction are demodulated and converted into a remote control signal, which is sent from a remote control signal transmitter 7 to a DVD playback device 1. The DVD playback device 1 temporarily stops the playback on the basis of the temporary stop instruction of the remote control signal received by the remote control light receiving section 6. Furthermore, the output image/voice processing section of the reception unit 4 subjected to pause control transmits a still picture signal written in an image/audio memory to a liquid crystal display monitor 3.
