PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium secondary battery excellent in cycle characteristics at high temperature, and to provide a method for manufacturing a positive electrode active material which is used for the lithium secondary battery and excellent in crystallinity while large in particle size. SOLUTION: The lithium secondary battery is provided wherein the positive electrode active material is lithium manganate having a cubic spinel structure. Related to the lithium manganate, a 1/4 value width of (440) plane peak containing Kα1 ray and Kα2 ray which appears near 2θ=64 deg. at powder X-ray diffraction method is at least 2.5 times of 3/4 value width of peak. The positive electrode active material is the lithium manganate having a cubic spinel structure, wherein a material lithium manganate of a cubic spinel single phase which is smaller in particle size compared with the lithium manganate is added with at least one kind of lithium salt, for a baking and synthesizing. |
