PURPOSE: A method and apparatus for preparing a cotton molded article are provided by mixing a polyester-based(or polypropylene-based) fiber having a low temperature melting point and a common fiber in a specified ratio, uniformly mixing and molding the obtained hard cotton. Whereby, the obtained cotton article is reusable and has easy moldability and excellent sound insulation, heat insulation and sound absorption. CONSTITUTION: A polyester-based(or polypropylene-based) fiber having a low temperature melting point and a common fiber are mixed in a specified ratio and opened through an opener in the first stage. The opened mixed fiber is passed through a fiber mixing machine via a blower to produce a mixed fiber having a mixing ratio of 70% or more. The mixed fiber is then opened in the second stage in a beak opener through a control opener and heated under pressure and a heat treating machine(11) to produce hard cotton having a specified thickness, which is then molded in a compressor(12) after preheating and cut to a specified size by a vertical, horizontal cutting machine(14,14a). |
