FOCUS OFFSET ADJUSTING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the abnormality of recording and reproduction characteristics caused by repeated recording to a specific area whenever a focus offset adjustment is made. SOLUTION: The focus offset in recording to an optical disk is made identical to that in reproduction from the optical disk, and specific data representing that the recording is made with a device which conforms to the conditions of the device concerned are recorded to the area to which the focus offset is adjusted. When the specific data are detected, the focus offset adjustment is made in a state of reproduction.
