PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize dial-up connection to communication equipment which requests the dial-up connection. SOLUTION: An IFAX 1 is provided with the function of dial-up connection. When an incoming call is detected, the IFAX 1 determines whether the incoming call is transmitted from FAX equipment 32 or an IFAX 2 which requests dial-up connection. When it is determines that the incoming call is transmitted from the IFAX 2, the IFAX 1 switches to a dial-up protocol, and tries dial-up connection to the IFAX 2. Also, the IFAX 1 prepares HTML format data which can be used by the browsers of clients 11-14, in response to requests from the clients 11-14, and transmits the data to the clients 11-14.
