ACTIVATED CARBONACEOUS STRUCTURE AND ELECTRIC DOUBLE LAYER CAPACITOR USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric double layer capacitor with a high capacitance and low internal resistance by enhancing the electrical conductivity of an activated carbonaceous structure. SOLUTION: A pair of polarizable electrodes 12 made of activated carbonaceous structures 1 containing 0.5 to 20 wt.% potassium titanate whiskers 3 per total weight is placed in activated carbon powder 2 with a separator 13 in between. Further, a pair of collecting bodies 14 is placed on the outer surface of each polarizable electrodes 12, to form an electrode laminated body 15. The laminated body is housed in a packaging material 16 to obtain the electric double layer capacitor 11.
