The invention relates to a steering wheel that can be heated uniformly across the surface area of the ring and, if necessary, the steering wheel spokes or part thereof, the desired temperature being reached in a short amount of time. For this purpose, the inventive steering wheel is provided with a heating element comprising a base, on top of which is applied a polymer layer in which finely divided carbon particles have been dispersed. Numerous electrical contacts are disposed on top of said heating element which are connected to a power source such that the polarity of the adjacent contacts can be varied. Said heating element is divided into several zones having a determined resistance and, in this way, the temperature increase speed can be regulated by selecting the appropriate conductive material resistivity and distance between contacts.
