PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid developer coating method and a device therefor by which the life of a developing roller or a developing belt functioning as the developer carrier of a developing device is prolonged, and the developing device equipped with the coating device and an image forming apparatus equipped with the developing device. SOLUTION: The surface of the developing roller 402 is coated with liquid developer with which the surface of a coating roller 404 is coated via an intermediate roller 405. Thus, the rollers 402 and 404 do not directly come into contact with each other, so that the surface of the roller 402 is not worn and damaged by a recessed part 404a on the surface of the roller 404, and mechanical stress applied to the roller 402 is reduced and the life of the roller 402 is prolonged.
