PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electromagnetic stop cock capable of surely operating and preventing occurrence of a water hammer. SOLUTION: A diaphragm 32 is provided on a pressure receiving part of a valve shaft 2 having a valve seat packing 6 opening and closing a water passage installed on a tip part. A back pressure chamber 4 having supplied water introduced and sucking and discharging supplied water with a solenoid valve 5 is provided. The valve shaft 2 is moved vertically by supplied water sucking and discharging pressure in the backpressure chamber 4 and the provided diaphragm 32. The valve seat packing 6 installed on the tip part of the valve shaft is fitted in a water passage opening and closing valve hole and gotten into contact with circumference of the same to close the passage and a groove around the circumference is formed at a valve hole wall circumference contact part lower part of the packing if it is necessary.
