PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tatami mat that aims for an effective use of bark with good workability and bears medicinal virtues for preventing insects and/or mold. SOLUTION: A tatami mat is provided with a tree bark part 2 composed of bark that has medicinal values for preventing insects and/or mold and a mat base 3 that has a straw part formed by layers of natural vegetable fibers such as rice plant straws. The bark is bark of tree that belongs to Japanese cypress group or that belongs to Japanese cedar group and the bark part is characterized by it being composed of tree barks processed in a slender and thin plate shape or a fiber shape. Tree bark part can be distributedly mixed in the straw part or can be arranged in layers between multiple numbers of the straw part.
