PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording material which can be used similarly to general copying paper and which shows excellent toner fixing property and image removing property, and to provide a method for removing images. SOLUTION: (1) The recording material having a coating film on its surface is used for the method of removing images by heating and bringing the recording material on which images made of a hot-melt or thermoplastic image forming material are formed into contact with an image removing body. The critical surface tension of the recording material surface is in the range of >=280μN/cm. (2) The surface layer coating the recording material shows <=400 seconds smoothness (Oken type smoothness) according to J.TAPPI No.5-B method.
