PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet carrying device capable of restricting the double- feeding generating frequency and capable of easily controlling the carrying speed without using a servo motor and a stepping motor to control the sheet carrying speed. SOLUTION: This sheet carrying device for carrying a sheet by pinching the sheet between a driving roller 151 and a driven roller 152 to be rotated with the driving roller, applying the pressure to the driving roller, is provided with a load torque generating device 160 for giving the force for hindering the rotation of the driven roller 152 and capable of changing the force for hindering the rotation.
