PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rolling bearing which has remarkably improved silentness, and a production method therefor. SOLUTION: In the rolling bearing in which a plurality of rolling elements are interposed into the space between an outer race and an inner race, at least one of the outer race, inner race and rolling element consists of steel having a composition containing, by mass, 0.40 to 0.60% C, <=0.5% Si, <=0.5% Mn and 8.0 to <10.0% Cr, and the balance Fe with impurities, and having hardness of >=740 HV. The major axis of carbides contained therein is <=1.2μm, and the area ratio thereof is <=3.5%. In the production method for the rolling bearing, a steel stock having the above composition is subjected to heat treatment at a quenching temperature of >=1,000 deg.C, at a subzero treatment temperature of <=-70 deg.C, and at a tempering temperature of 150 to 200 deg.C into at least one among the outer race, inner race and rolling element.
