PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the risk of an interference between a piston crest face 3a and an intake/exhaust valve when a piston 3 is accidentally fluctuated from a predetermined position in an exhaust-top dead center. SOLUTION: A lower link 11 is installed to a crank pin 2 in a crankshaft 1 rotationally. An upper link 13 is connected to the lower link 11 and the piston 3 rotationally. A restriction link 15 restriction the freedom of the lower link 11 is installed to the lower link 11 and an eccentric pin 19 in a control shaft 17. In a state of a piston-top dead center, the direction of a load F2 working on the restriction link 15 on the basis of a piston upward inertia load F1 is set to the direction directed from a connection center P3 between the restriction link 15 and the lower link 11 to the center P4 of the eccentric pin 19.
