1318307 Sealing boots for ball joints SWFSPEZIALFABRIK FUER AUTOZUBEHOER GUSTAV RAU GmbH 18 Aug 1970 [21 Aug 1969] 39646/70 Heading E2F A ball and socket joint assembly comprising a crank 12 with a ball pin 10 and a drive rod 11 with an opening 17 receiving the pin 10, e.g. in a windscreen wiper linkage, is formed with a plastics hemi-spherical bearing bush 15, e.g. of nylon, in a through-bore 17 in the member 11, an elastic sealing boot 13, e.g. of rubber, covering that part of the pin 10 between the two members; one end of the boot resting against a washer 14, e.g. of steel, rotatably mounted on the pin 10. The ball pin 10 is a press fit in the bush 15, which is slotted on its edge adjacent the boot 13, Fig. 2 (not shown). The ball pin may be rivetted to the member 12. The boot may be placed in a compressed condition between the two members. The bush 15 is grooved to receive the edges of the bore 17. |
