PRECAST GEL AND TRAY COMBINATION FOR SUBMERGED GEL ELECTROPHORESIS

A precast slab gel for use in submerged horizontal electrophoresis is formed in a tray situated so that it does not move or float during use. Easily removable tabs are designed to mate with grooves present in the tank and sin ce the tabs are readily removable, it can be used in any type of tank including those without grooves (26-29), making the design versatile. Further aspects of the invention include pins or posts extending upward from the tray base to anchor the gel, as well as indicia created by hot foil stamping to produce a fluorescent image as part of the electropherogram image produced.
