PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of two images, as a vertically polarized image and a horizontally polarized image being required in the conventional moisture detection methods and of a mechanism or the like used to turn and control a polarizing filter being required, in addition to a television camera to increase costs when a sensor system which enables an automatic detection is to be achieved. SOLUTION: In the method of discriminating the state of a road surface, the luminance value of a comparison part, which is situated in a position higher that the road surface, such as a white line or the like and in which water is hard to collect and and the luminance value of the road surface are detected, relative luminance value is computed on the basis of the respective luminance values, and whether the water exists on the road surface is discriminated, on the basis of the result. |
