PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine capable of preventing shaft swinging of its piston pin without excessively shortening the piston pin. SOLUTION: In the simplest design (Fig. 4), the piston pin not shortened can have a spherical end face with a close clearance spacing reserved to the surface of a combustion chamber, so that any moving tendency of the pin along its axis encounters immediately a resistance owing to the contact of the spherical end face with the combustion chamber surface. The area of each spherical surface is enough to prevent the combustion chamber surface from being worn or scratched. According to another design of piston pin out of shortening, a spherical seat metal cap fitted in clicking in the specified position of the end part is incorporated (Fig. 2), and the pin (and cap) is secured so as not to contact with the inner wall of a cylinder.
